Abased Is a Blessed Place [Paul's Secret]

"I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound:

every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry,

both to abound and to suffer need."

Philippians 4:12

I can remember a time when my daughter was a baby and I did not have enough milk for her. I remember watching her suck the last drop. During this time I was anxious and praying, “Lord YOU said in your word, “I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.” Psalm 37:25 Well to tell you the truth I said it more like this, “Lawwwwd, Lawwwd, sob, sob, sob, Lawwwd yooou saidddd I woullllld neverrr have to begggg!!!! Lawwwd!!!!, pleassse HELLLP meee!” LOL!!!

Even as an adult I truly didn't have the revelation of what that actually meant. Oh I said it and I believed it because if God said it then it's true. 2 Timothy 3:16. But I felt like I was begging for milk so where was it. Yeah maybe the author David never saw the righteous begging bread, but I was begging for milk for my baby. My daughter, Raquel, is now in her late 40s and is still alive, praise God! So somewhere between that cry and the Word we really were never forsaken.

Hebrews 13:5 (Amp) says, “Let your character or moral disposition be free from love of money [including greed, avarice, lust, and craving for earthly possessions] and be satisfied with your present [circumstances and with what you have]; for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]”

And there it was, a secret was revealed. The somewhere in between not having milk and my daughter still being alive was the Blessed Place. In this place, although I cried and had a tantrum, God was there with me until the milk came. Psalm 34:17 I don't remember how, when, or where the milk came from, but I know I can remember many, many, many bottles of milk after that.

Can you just imagine if I would have truly believed that He was there? I would have simply been communicating with my Abba Father Romans 8:15, my Friend James 2:23, Romans 4:22-24, while I waited for the milk because I would have known without a doubt it was coming. I missed a great opportunity to spend some time with Him until it came. But then again, I did communicate with Him through my crying I just did not let Him talk. (Smile) Psalm 33:18-19

Paul said, “Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.  I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: everywhere and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” Philippians 4:11-13

So in between the time of not having milk (abased) and somehow having milk (abound) I was being sustained by Christ's strength. [Dictionary.com says sustain means to keep (a person, the mind, the spirits, etc) from giving way as under trial or affliction. To support, hold, or bear up from below; bear the weight of as a structure.] I really understand now that I can hold up under any circumstance through Christ strengthening me. As He strengthens and as I wait more blessings flow. Isaiah 40:31

1 Timothy 6:6 (Amp) say, “But godliness with contentment is great gain.” 1 Timothy 6:6 The Amplified version says, “[And it is, indeed, a source of immense profit, for] godliness accompanied with contentment (that contentment which is a sense of inward sufficiency) is great and abundant gain.” The inward sufficiency is found in Ephesians 3:20.

From the screaming and crying until my child still being alive at the age of 40 something, I have finally come to a place of contentment in all things. Why? Because of our relationship (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, and me) John 17:20-21 that has developed over the years. It did not take place overnight but through the many trials and good times my Father has always been there getting me through. Psalm 40:1-2

And now I well know it! Isaiah 43:10-11 This for me is the great gain. I once read, long ago, that true wealth is in knowing the value of the Word of God.

  • In other words knowing that you know, that you know, that you know, that you know, that as long as you have God through His dear Son, Jesus Christ, John 14:6

  • and the comforter, the Holy Spirit John 16:13 you have all that you need at all times and no matter how it looks you are never without. Hebrews 11:1. 2 Corinthians 5:7 Hallelujah!!!!

So, what about you today? Are you in an abased place? Believe it or not this is a Blessed Place. Try spending it by simply talking to our Father and don't be like me. Give Him a chance to talk too. (Smile) He promised He would never forsake us Hebrews 13:5, will always deliver us Psalms 34:19 and forever keep us! John 10:28-29

"I was once young and now I am old. I have never seen a godly man abandoned or his children forced to search for food." Psalm 37:25 (NET)

Our Father simply says today, “_______________ (insert your name) I love you.

Today's Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

Lord God, Elohim-The Sovereign, Mighty Creator; Lord God Elyon-The Most High God; Lord God Jehova-The unchangeable, Intimate God; Lord God Jehovah Rophe-The Lord, My Health; Lord God Jehovah Jireh-The Lord, my Provider; Lord God El Shaddai-The All-Sufficient One; Lord God Adonai-Lord and Master; and Lord God Jehovah Rohi-The Lord, my Shepherd.

You are all that and everything we will ever need. A simple thank you just don't seem like it's enough but You so graciously desire our praise and our thanks. So we today and everyday offer up, from our hearts, our deepest gratitude and thanksgiving.

Words are not enough, nor are there enough tongues to seemingly do it sufficiently. Who are we that You are so mindful of us? You are our exceeding great reward. We love You because You first loved us. You, alone are all we will ever need! We praise You, thank You, and bless Your Holy Name!

It is in the matchless name of Jesus we pray, Amen! Amen! Amen!
