"And it came to pass, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, It is the king of Israel. Therefore they compassed about him to fight: but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him; and God moved them to depart from him."
2 Chronicles 18:31
Today God says there is not a mistake that when you call on Him for help,
that He won't get you out of.
As a Christian I've made many mistakes over the years, and no one could be harder on me than me. I would get so upset with myself. I wasted a lot of time crying, being angry with myself, putting myself down, with why can't you do better? Why can't you be like this one or that one?
In the midst of one of those tantrums God sent me to 2 Chronicles18 and taught me the sufficiency of His grace, [God's unearned, undeserved, and unmerited favor, love, and power freely given giving me another chance to get it right]. The Lord showed me how King Jehoshaphat made several mistakes, but He got him out each time he called on Him. King Jehoshaphat, for a second time, joined in with a King to go into battle without God. 2 Chronicles 18:3 Now the first time he did this, they did not inquire of the Lord 2 Kings 3:7-8, they got into trouble 2 Kings 3:9, then asked God for help 2 Kings 3:11-12, God answered 2 Kings 3:16-18 and He delivered them. 2 Kings 3:20
But this time King Jehoshaphat inquired 2 Chronicles 18:6, God through His prophet, said no and told them to return to their home in peace. 2 Chronicles 18:6-7, 2 Chronicles 18:15-16 Influenced by man, he ignored the Lord and followed the king into battle. 2 Chronicles 18:28 Not only did he partner with someone who did not care to hear what God had to say, but this mistake (disobedience) set him up to die in the king’s place. 2 Chronicles 18:29-30
But in the midst of his mistake (disobedience), he cried out to the Lord and the Lord saved him! 2 Chronicles 18:31-32 Although he did not obey, God still helped him! Psalm 32:1 says, "Oh, what joy for those whose disobedience is forgiven, whose sin is put out of sight!"
Jehoshaphat's relationship with God was partly built through some of the mistakes he made.
2 Chronicles 19:2 NLT He learned his lesson and on the third time, when his enemies were coming against him, he called on the Lord first 2 Chronicles 20:2-3, obeyed His voice 2 Chronicles 20:14-17, instead of someone else's, and got the victory! 2 Chronicles 20:20-24.
If it was not for the mistakes I've made, I would not know God as a loving Father who understands me, will lovingly and patiently see me through, and unlike man, won't put me down Psalms 103:8-14. Because of my mistakes I have experienced the love of our Father who loves me without condition 1 John 4:10. It's because of my mistakes that I know my Lord and Savior is my advocate when I make mistakes 1 John 2:1 and intercedes on my behalf. Hebrews 7:25 And it is because of my mistakes, that I've learned from, I now live in victory. 2 Corinthians 2:14. And I know, that I know, that I know for myself He loves me and is rich in mercy Ephesians 2:3-5.
Webster's dictionary says a mistake is an error in action, calculation, opinion, or judgment
caused by poor reasoning, carelessness, insufficient knowledge, etc.
But whenever we do anything without God, we are in error. John 15:5 Our knowledge is insufficient and limited but God is all sufficient and all knowing. Isaiah 40:28
God made it clear to Jehoshaphat that what he did was wrong. But the only reason he was saved from this mistake (disobedience) and given another chance was because there was something good found in him, 2 Chronicles 19:2-3. Praise God! The only reason God saves us from our mistakes is because of Someone good found in us! John 3:16-17
So, for every mistake (every act of disobedience) let us recognize what we did wrong, repent Revelation 2:5 and always come boldly to His throne and obtain mercy and receive grace at our time of need. Hebrews 4:15-16 Hallelujah!!! And turn from our wicked ways of disobedience!
Grace - God's unmerited favor, free gift, and boundless lovingkindness shown to undeserving people, enabling forgiveness, salvation, and a relationship with Him through Jesus Christ
What are your mistakes today? Don't let them keep you from God another moment.
God says, "_____________ (insert your name) there's not a mistake, that if you call on Me for help, that I won't bring you through and get you out of. My grace is sufficient."
Today's Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father,
We praise You, honor You, and adore You. We thank you for sending Your only begotten Son, Jesus Christ who came down to this earth to suffer, bleed and die for such wretches like us. Today we bow down in thanksgiving for being a Father who looks beyond our faults and sees our needs. We thank You for the sufficiency of Your grace. Rescue and Restore us today heavenly Father, And we will be careful to give you All the Glory, All the Praise, and All the Honor!
In Jesus' name we pray, Amen!
